More Paisley and Platinum...

I am continuing with platinum mixed with warm, fall colors this week as I have some beautiful new bone china from Mikasa: "Floral Elegance" platinum. I am so in love with this beautiful and delicate pattern that my husband picked out.  Take a look...

I used a piece of paisley fabric I have used several times before. I wanted this one to have more of a red feel as opposed to last week's rusty tones. I layered the fabric over a solid silk runner.

I used sparkly apples this week nestled in spanish moss...

I kept the taupe chenille napkins from last week for two of the place settings, and added the dark red silk for the others.

The crystal is Durand Cristal D'Arques "Longchamp," which I started collecting in the 1990s from the base exchange at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. I added to my collection from ebay last year. I really love how the cut pattern coordinates with the edge of this china.

I love the floral pattern on this china and I especially love how it coordinates so well with my sterling flatware, "Louvre" (1893) by Wallace. The iced tea spoons are Alvin "Bridal Bouquet."

The napkins rings came from---you guessed it, Walmart. I liked the mother of pearl with this china.

These butter knives are vintage Landers/Frary/Clark sterling and mother of pearl...

I have moved on from weeds to leaves!

I used a silver chaffing dish and a silver ice bucket for this loose arrangement of leaves from around the property. I got whatever was red!

Now the light has started to change...

There you have part II of my paisley and platinum series! I am so excited about this china because it's just a bit different from the other formal patterns Mikasa offers. I can tell that I will be using it a lot with so many different colors, and I don't expect it to ever be "dated." Although we have some beautiful inherited china that we love, this is finally "our" table with china and sterling that we picked together. So it is a special table for us:-)

I'll be joining Susan's "Tablescape Thursday" over at "Between Naps on the Porch" so be sure to stop by there and see what beautiful table she has for us this week!

Thanks to everyone who has commented on my kitchen posts! I'll start getting around to all of you tonight. I can't wait to see your beautiful kitchens and tablescapes!

I will be outside next week and have a great giveaway from Mikasa, so come back by for a visit!

Anita

  1. Oh my gosh Anita! I am drooling over your tablescape... especially the centerpiece! I am aching for some fall leaves. Randy doesn't lead worship this Sunday, so we're thinking of hitting the road and heading up north to see some fall colors! Hoping to bring some leaves and acorns back.
Thanks for the Heart of the Home link... I linked to my new kitchen. So fun seeing all the other kitchens. LOVE YOUR KITCHEN!

  7. This is so gorgeous! Fall leaves, mother of pearl, platinum, rainy days - these are a few of my favorite things. Happy to find a sister of the cloudy day. Like your husband, my dad would alway say to me on such a day, "wake up, Dana girl! It's your kind of day!"

  22. Fabulous centerpiece!!! I have to risk life and limb along the highways or country roads to get branches like that. All the trees in our yard yield yellow leaves. :-( The napkin rings are perfect with your china! Great find! Love the Longchamps crystal, too. I have it and use it daily! Wonderful!!!

  23. Hi Anita,

You've created another beautiful table for us! It seems that you and I had some ideas in common this week -- the centerpiece container and fabric remind me of the ones I used. Obviously we're kindred spirits! You did a wonderful job capturing the dramatic effects of the late afternoon light. Really stunning!

    Regards,

I'll measure my pantry tomorrow. When my husband told me he was going to put one in I really didn't think there was enough space. I'm so glad he proved me wrong.

  38. Because I was busy with my girls last week, I didn't get to do a tablescape or enjoy all the others. I'm SO GLAD that I didn't miss this one.

It's just beautiful!! I love the way it looks against the bare wood with the paisley print scooched in the middle.

And, as always, I love your centerpiece. You do a better job than anyone of using the nature around you.

    Serously... lovely!!
