Porches and decks!

I know it's hard to believe, but I was able to put together a post featuring our porches and decks! These are my favorite spaces to spend the summer here in the mountains. Once the kids are out of school, we really try to utilize the outdoor area as much as possible. Since the house is so small, it really adds living space. We'll start with the front porch...

We have done everything here ourselves, and it certainly has a rustic feel. All the rock is from the property, as are a lot of the plantings, which I carried out of the woods.

This is the front porch overlooking the creek. As you can see, the very large Hemlock tree that fell is still there. It is going to require a lot of work to get it out. We still have a lot of trees and limbs that need to be picked up from the storms, but it takes time.

I'll just let you walk around and make yourself at home!

I am thankful every day to be here on this property my parents so generously gave me. I grew up playing in this very creek as a child, and the connection I feel to my family here, all the way to my great grandparents, is something I would not trade for anything.

Thanks so much for stopping by:-) I hope you enjoyed our porch and deck tour! You are welcome to  stay and have dinner with us!

I'll be joining Kim at Savvy Southern Style for her decks and porches party, so be sure to go by there. I know you will see some fabulous outdoor spaces!!
