Stargazer lilies and vintage china

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a super simple and sweet tablescape I created using some very old and rare china.

These plates came with sacks of flour to my grandfather's store and although they have no marking on the back, we have been told they are "Cone Premium." I featured the lilac version of these on one of my first tablescapes HERE.

My mother gave me these beautiful stargazer lilies from her garden, which I placed with a few strands of fern in Mason jars inside the box.

The pink "Moonstone" glassware is by Fostoria and is part of a collection my mother started for my 10-year-old.

I have used sterling flatware from 1893, "Louvre" by R.S. Wallace and Sons, and Pfaltzgraff "Heritage" dinner plates. The napkins are part of a large collection my parents inherited from a relative.

I have layered two ruffled runners that I made. The top one is from a fabric by Portfolio Textiles, and the bottom one is made from vintage feedsacks also from my grandfather's store. It actually is turned on the wrong side because I wanted solid cream color and this is the only one I had with ruffles.

This is such a simple table and so easy to put together for a casual ladies lunch. I love to layer old with new, rustic wood with sterling silver then top it off with flowers from the garden.

I am loving using shades of pink as an accent for the first time ever. Not sure how this is going to work at Christmas!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Anita

  3. The long box with the lilies in it made me think of going out in the garage and looking for something similar. Then out to the garden to clip a few flowers. It won't be nearly as lovely as your setting, but it would help my spirits sing.♥♫

  4. Anita, your table is lovely! Using the vintage dishes adds such charm, I think, and the lilies and ferns look fabulous in your wonderful box. How lucky for your daughter to already have a collection started for her! I guess I should be doing that for my nine-year-old granddaughter!

Anita, as always, what a lovely tablesetting! I love the vintage glassware and china...they are truly beautiful. The lilies pull in the pink beautifully. You should have no problem with it for Christmas. I have seen some beautiful vintage images on Pinterest, using the color pink.

  12. Anita, as always your table is gorgeous! I love the mix of rustic and formal, vintage and new, too. You're right, this would make a lovely table for a ladies luncheon. I love pink, so I'm attracted to the goblets, as well.

It's the simplicity of the table that makes it stand out as something truly special! It's approachable and comfortable and quiet...all the elements that make dining a pleasure! I'll bet those stargazer lilies smell wonderful! It's been a long time since I've had any in the house. The summer's heat has zapped just about everything in the yard. :-( I can remember china coming in boxes of detergent, but I never knew it came in sacks of flour!!!!! Those sacks had to have been much larger than the 4 lb. size on grocery shelves these days! :-)

  19. Hi Anita. Your table looks so pretty and feminine, and romantic too. I love how you're bringing softer colours into your home decor. Very pretty. The old china is beautiful as are the pink goblets. Christmas will be a challenge I think. You may have to add some new vintage decorations this year. :) Pamela

Hi Anita, I am sorry I missed this beautiful, genteel post. I adore the pink muted goblets and dishes and your Mother's amazing flowers. What a rich earth and talent for growing on your beloved lands. The runner is gorgeous. Soft shimmery golds, silver, white with dark evergreens would be lovely at holidays....:)I can only imagine your talent will produce.
