A couple weeks ago I shared on my facebook page a peek at some slipcovers I had made for my Duncan Phyfe chairs, so I thought I would share them here.
I wanted to make them all different, so I just used lace and fabric I had gotten from my mom. I made four slipcovers then covered the other four chairs with burlap, since I knew the men here would not want to sit on ruffles and lace:-)
I also made a couple pillows out of this denim ticking. I added ruching and some lace trim to this one. The important thing with ruching is to make sure both sides are even when pulling the gathering threads.
I am loving the burlap on the seats of these also. It has a linen look to it and the course texture really balances the ruffles on the other chairs.
To keep it all coordinated, I used burlap on the seat of these four chairs, which I lined with drop cloth fabric, then used different laces and trims for each skirt...all with hints of soft pink and blue.
One thing I love is that the skirts really highlight the iron base of the table. It kind of disappeared on the wood floor.
I am just about finished with this area and we are really loving the vintage feel and the 1950s colors. We still need to add the wormy chestnut baseboards, but need to trim around the french doors first. Too much to do and too little time:-)
Thanks so much for stopping by!!
