Vintage lilacs

My grandmother's lilacs are in bloom so I put together a tablescape with vintage china that has been in my great grandmother's china cabinet for at least 50-70 years.

These darling cups are from post-war Japan.

My mother has repeatedly asked begged me to polish this creamer and sugar, and I will because I know tarnish is bad for silver, even if it's the "in" thing.

The chocolate pot set was gifted several years ago from a family member, and the pretty pastel colors were just perfect for this table.

My great grandmother's cruet set is the centerpiece of this vintage table.

There are three different kinds of plates in this set which is believed to have been a "gift" with flour sacks at the old Knight's Store here. The plates are porcelain with no markings, but my mother was told they could be "Cone Premium."

I used burlap to anchor everything with battenburg lace placemats and a lace runner together with antique sterling and silver plated chargers.

Thanks for stopping by:-) I always appreciate your visits.

I am in luv!!! You know I have a weakness for china, and flatware, and .. and :-) But I especially have a weakness for the ones that have a story , a family history passed down. What a luvly table Anita. The lilacs are beautiful, the table a knockout!!

  6. Lovely post, Anita. Your sweet china is beautiful and goes beautifully with the lilacs. I have been trying to baby a lilac bush for several years now and I hope it will survive and maybe even thrive before too long. It is my understanding that lilacs do better where there are colder winters, but I am stubborn, so I keep hoping my bush will take off before too long. I can imagine how wonderful yours must smell!

Beautiful tablescape, Anita! I love the purple colors. I've found myself drawn to those colors again. I loved them and lived with them as a teen, and I'm drawn to them again. Yes, silver polish = a good thing. I need to do mine, too! ;-)

    XO,

    Sheila
