Decorating for winter

As much as I like to scale things back after Christmas, I don't like my home to look too bare, so I have tried to find a balance that includes color, texture and warmth.

As in the dining space, I stayed with the silver and crystal, but I used a little more color with the blue and red pillows.

The 1965 radio moved off the buffet and found a home here with some old books and Fostoria "Baroque" candle holders.

I moved the antique Chinese ancestor prints from the music room to this corner just to add a little pop of the red.

In the other corner, I topped the armoire with an antique silver oil lamp, antlers and a piece of old wood.  I added a glass candy dish and candle holder along with a wood box with ivy for a very simple vignette on the table.

I filled some apothecary jars with pine cones, nandina berries and juniper to top the piano, and stuck another Balsam branch in an old vinegar jar.

These are very simple ideas to brighten up winter on the inside -- especially as it is usually so dreary, gray and cold outside:-)

And speaking of outside -- I saw this cutie while looking out my bedroom window:-)

Thanks for stopping by:-)

  5. Very pretty. I love red accents; especially with your grey walls and neutral pieces. The blue looks fantastic in that mix too. :D
