*Sigh.* 1950s cool stuff

Why is it, when I search out some seemingly obscure item like pink Pyrex, it ends up becoming the most sought after thing on ebay? This is my grandmother's "pink daisy" divided casserole...easy to find.   I searched and finally found the 2 1/2 quart casserole at a reasonable price, but have yet to score a 1 1/2 quart. Some lucky person outbid me on ebay and got one for $8, which is unheard of. They are usually in the $25 range with at least $10 shipping. I, of course, am never lucky enough to find one at a thrift store for $4.

Oh how I love this collection...

I saw the Pink "Gooseberry" Cinderella mixing bowls at an antique mall here for $29, $39, $49 per bowl. They are not even that much on ebay. Exactly why I do not shop at antique malls here. Most everything is way overpriced.

I also love the aqua Pyrex, and the "Amish Butterprint" pattern.

Then there are the canisters...

These are from LuLu's Vintage

and pink ones...

These were already sold from Ruby's Girl on Etsy. My grandmother had pink ones similar to this.

I am also really digging chrome and aluminum kitchen accessories. Who knew?

These are from the blog, Sleek and Simple Lines.

Oh be still my heart! So who has some of these things? I am still on the lookout, hoping to find a good deal, or someone who doesn't want them anymore.

Just another little hint at the direction I seem to be taking around here...

I'll be on the lookout for a 1.5 qt. pink daisy for you. They're all over the place in my area.

  5. Anita -- I am seeing some of the pieces from my own childhood. Mom had that aqua covered dish and the chrome canisters. It is remarkable how popular the old pyrex pieces are -- must be that everyone has sweet memories tied to these pieces. I have a set of the Americana (brown and white) cinderella bowls -- my favorite mixing bowls :)

Good luck finding some more of that pink gooseberry :)

    Blessings!

  6. Always happy to see a post. I had a piece of the Amish Pyrex but can't find it, not sure what happened to it. Story of my life the last few years since I downsized. The pink Pyrex is so pretty. xo

I am so fond of Pyrex as I have some of my mother's pink pieces. I have been slowly picking it up when I find it for a good price and now in red and aqua too.

  8. My Mother use to have a green set of cannisters like those you shown. Oh the memories.

  9. I don't have a bit of it, but it makes me smile just looking at it. It would have gone well in my mother's kitchen and the ones of all of her friends when I was little. Now, I'm feeling nostalgic.

  10. When I was a young bride I used a pyrex dish to make gravy. Found out fairly quickly that it's not intended for use on the top of the stove. Gravy and dish exploded everywhere. I'll have to keep my eye out for some cheap pieces for you. It's kind of like white pitchers--in abundance when I started collecting them and now I don't see them very often since everyone is snatching them up. I so love your blog!

  11. I still have some of my Granny's pyrex, but it is white with the blue flowers. The pink and blue are amazing! Good luck on your hunt!
