The Italian aria...

As a young college student, I sang lots of Italian arias. Now, my 10-year-old daughter enjoys learning some of the same ones I sang. She is too shy to sing them in public, however.
Music is a big part of our family life and all three children love to "play" at the piano.
This is my antique piano...that I bought for $140 when I lived in Washington, D.C. I thought this corner needed a little glam makeover...you know-- opera style.

My mom's brass candelabra from Lebanon got some crystals from a chandelier, and the vintage ceramic lamp is topped with a burlap lampshade from my parent's attic.

I added a vintage modeling photo of a family friend and a painted photograph of my great grandmother to the window from my great grandfather's house.

My 13-year-old daughter takes more "artistic" photos than I do...

Of course, one must have lace and lots of it. Inherited vintage Chinese silk keeps it colorful and ties into the french door shades I made last summer.

I think this is an inspiring place to create and share music with the whole family.
