Death by cheese board

Yes. That is a real thing people. A very real thing.

I've been working on styling and shooting my fall tour, which will go live Friday, and I always try to include something to eat in the kitchen tour. I had decided I'd make my Pumpkin Cheesecake, much to the delight of my family, but, I ran out of time and decided to make a cheese board instead, knowing they could all nibble on that when I was done.

What an easy and seriously impressive little snack -- the cheese board. You really have no boundaries, and can do whatever you like.

I literally ran in and out of Walmart quickly as that is the only option close and was able to get a nice variety of things my family loved.

I bought grapes, dried figs and dried tangerines and added chocolate covered almonds and date almond rolls for something sweet.

For cheeses, I got a wensleydale with blueberries, a spicy colby jack, plain colby jack and a smoky bacon cheddar. There weren't a lot of choices, and I needed to get something everyone would like, and these worked fine for us.

I also added a variety of savory crackers.

What a fun and super easy thing to put together last minute. The possibilities are endless for what you can use, and you can make it as simple or as grand as you like.

I enjoyed it a little *too* much and decided it's just not a good idea to have something like that around to constantly tempt me:-)

However, I can't wait to try putting together some different varieties and am happy to have something up my sleeve for last minute company or just for the family to nibble on.

Do you all have any favorites for your cheese boards?

  4. I love horseradish cheddar with thin thin cracker-sized pieces of rare roast beef. Yum.
Your board is wonderful - and much more interesting that cheesecake.

  5. Wonderful idea! Can't go wrong with cheeses!!! I'm a Brie girl, but I really enjoy tasting all kinds of cheeses. The more beautifully they're presented, the better they taste!!!
