And the rest of the kitchen...

So I shared a couple weeks ago the cabinetry I painted and wanted to show the rest of this side as well, since it was also updated a little.

And I do mean just a little with only paint and moving some accessories around.

I decided to paint these shelves since the cabinet on the other side of the window was also painted, and I liked how it all worked together.

Then, of course, I decided to go really colorful with hand-painted Turkish plates, Chinese tea set, Venetian glass, Japanese china, Italian espresso cups and some other odds and ends. I do love this very happy look and love seeing things that mean something to me.

I had ordered some vintage sarees from India a month ago and was so happy when they arrived, knowing this one would be perfect for a new sink skirt. It really goes well with the Turkish kilim and  just brings everything in the kitchen together.

I am so in love with this look in here, and it really wasn't a lot of work or money -- just a can of paint and the sari, which was $19.99. It's so festive and happy, and I love waking up and heading in here for that first of several cups of coffee every morning.

It's not a high-end kitchen by any means, but it has style and personality, and that's much more important to me:-)

  • I enjoy your blog as well! Remember I'm the one who copied your cutting board hanger (on side of island) idea! Love the festive colors. Are those Pyrex bowls on the top shelf? Love them!

    1. Thank you so much!! Yes I do:-) Yes those are Pyrex, and the blue one was my mother's. I use them quite a bit and wanted them handy.

  • I always enjoy seeing inside your home, and how you make regular changes to the decor but always keep your same style. I like all the textures and colors and layers. I noticed something new in the post that I'm really interested in and it may seem funny to you. I really like the backsplash behind your sink, under the window. The neutral tiles are so pretty, and colorful in their own way. I'm going to "pin" this picture so that when I can finally afford to replace my unlovely, very pinkish ceramic tile in my kitchen and bath, I want to use your very pretty tile.

    1. Wow Lisa, thank you so much for those kind words!! Funny about the backsplash because I love that tile but they did not have enough of it and I looked at every Lowes and online. My plan was to just use it as a border and add in the plain larger tiles to make it stretch but never got around to it. I still like that tile but can’t get any more. There are similar ones but not exact. There’s a post where I talked about it I’ll find and link for you later🙂

    2. Thank you, I just think it's so pretty. It's neutral, but really has a lot of color in it when you look closely.

  • I love the new painted look and if it were me, would do the lower cabinets also. The white makes all of your colorful possessions stand out so beautifully. No, not high end, but highly stylish.
