The WORST room in the house...

I hesitated to show this room because it is SO bad. But, maybe I can inspire someone who has an equally bad situation!!

OK, before you call one of those TV shows about hoarders, let me explain! My two girls, 9 and 11 are crammed in here like sardines. This room is small, and as they grow they have expanded all their stuff. (They also have rooms at their Dad's house, so don't feel too sorry for them!) I must say, that the above photo is not how it normally looks, but how it looked as I began the transformation!

There is hope...

It will include this antique dresser of my grandmother's which I stripped of 14 layers of white and gold paint...but you can't see it yet.

This huge two-piece armoire which was a $100 craigslist find...

And a lot of work:-) That is what I'm doing this week, and I hope to have it back together for you in a few days. I need prayers, patience, and several pots of coffee:-)

See you soon...

That's pretty normal at my house! I used to have 2 rooms like that, but now only have one :(
My oldest moved to SoCal almost 2 months ago...now her old room is spotless...and empty.
Hope your project turns out well!

Hi Anita, We have a room that is a fifith bedroom and bath but it is used for storage because we don't have a garage. The pink soft paint color looks great so far!Prayers for you!I know it will be beautiful.

  7. I'm pretty positive that I could make my childhood room look like that all by myself... no help whatsoever from a sister.

And I'm also pretty sure that the invasion of PINK will fix exactly what ails it. Pink just makes everything better, girlhood rooms in particular.

I'll be waiting for the AFTER.

  8. Anita...LOL, of course MY child's room NEVER looked like that. :) Just kidding of course. You certainly are going to make a beautiful difference in their room. Lovely color and lots of storage. Prayers and coffee coming your way... can't send you any patience since I have none myself.
Hugs and can't wait to see the next reveal.

I got a chuckle out of that, because, of course, there's a room just like that in our house. Good luck, Anita!

  11. Hi Anita!
Oh I'm catching up a bit this morning... We're in Austin, TX visiting our son who recently moved here. We're just relaxing this morning and will meet him for lunch today.
I'm excited to see your transformation...
Even though my children are grown, there are rooms that need to be transformed!
They all move out, but don't take all of their stuff... then they move back in for a few months between apts and it's upside down again!

I also looked at your post on the pink Melomine {spelling} dishes! oh your tablescape with them is AWESOME! love it so much!
I hope you are having a wonderful summer so far!
Happy Fourth of July to you and your family!
