No more Persian and more...

Hi everyone!
I shared my antique chaise lounge last week after having sold my leather couch and chair, and we have really enjoyed the change. Then, after adding the antique settee that we were using in the bedroom, I decided to sell the blue persian rug as I just didn't like it with the settee.

I decided since everything in here is vintage or antique, I needed a dose of modern, so I added a creamy shag rug. Really, I did.

And I LOVE it!

The kids are always here on the floor, and they love it too.

Oh...here is the settee. This was also passed down from a relative and I had it reupholstered several years ago for another house.

Everything was fine until I took some things to consign at the shop of a friend who is a designer and saw this chair. I fell in love immediately.

Oh yes, just the color I am loving these days!!! It has a down cushion too!

BTW...I also switched out the drop cloth shades I had made for the windows with the bamboo ones-- again to keep things from looking *too* antique.

This is the first time I have been without a Persian or Turkish rug in years, but I'm really enjoying the neutral/no pattern look.

This was about three posts in one but I could not wait to share my chair. I basically traded for the chair, so all of this has been no cost, plus I actually have money left over. Who can argue with that??

Thanks SO very much for stopping by! Come on over to my Far Above Rubies facebook page if you have questions or just want to chat.

And some BIG news:  SIX huge boxes arrived yesterday from Lifetime Brands Mikasa, so you know what that means!! I have three, yes three fabulous Mikasa dinnerware giveaways coming so don't go too far:-)

I can see why you snapped up the chair. Great styling. I have a white shag area rug over my patterned carpet to tone down the pattern until I can change it. And of course it's surrounded by vintage here too.

Love your mix of antique and modern - your rug is shagadelic! That chaise is amazing - isn't it fun to move stuff around the house, get rid of the stuff you're tired of and bring new finds in!

Great choices on the switch ups. I really like to mix old things with new and have often also sometimes felt like I've gone to far in one direction or another. I love old pieces too but not when they start to make the room look to old. LOL! What an impact the new rug has in your room. It's a very pretty neutral touch with so much wonderful plush texture. Your new chair is gorgeous too!

  13. The shag rug looks great in the room. Makes me want to plop down on it and read a good book. I just won't be drinking a glass of wine when I do it though.

Anita, I love the new rug, it sure works well with the antique pieces. I like a combination of things like this. The new chair fabric is GORGEOUS! Love the dragonflies on it and the color is just scrumptious. I also love that coffee table, what is the base made from? Your room looks beautiful. XO, Pinky

  21. You have just totally changed the look of that room! I loved it before with the leather and all, but I really love it yet more now. That is a favorite look of mine, and changing out the rug was a great idea.

  22. Is this the same room? The other was pretty but this one tops it. After I saw the change in your kitchen to the blues and pinks I wondered how you'd handle the dining room and living room. The way your rooms have evolved naturally with your changes are just lovely. Now I can picture that you can use these new colors when you decorate for Christmas. Looking forward to that too! That chair was meant for the room!
