After thinking *way* too much about it, I finally set my Thanksgiving table.

Finally -- Mother's famous candy roaster pie with grandmother's perfect crust!
I have been promising the candy roaster (alternative to pumpkin) pie recipe for months on my facebook page, and I was finally able to catch my mom in the pie-making process:-) Here is the recipe along with directions for my grandmother's perfect crust just in time for Thanksgiving and the holiday season ahead.

Cozying up with my Yahyali
I always love "warming" up the house in the fall, but this year we seem to have totally bypassed fall and gone straight to the dead of winter. It was 15º this morning and the high will only get to 26º. The low is normally higher than that at 35º so it's a chilly one here.
Since we only have a heat pump and an uninsulated crawl space, the house can get cold. Plus, I'm so economical I keep the thermostat at 68 or below.

In honor of veterans
Luis and I are so thankful for all who have served this great nation, as well as the families and friends who have supported them. For Veteran's Day, we put together this video to tell the stories of those left behind.
We are the land of the free because of the brave...

Thanksgiving inspiration...
If there is anything that I am "known" for on pinterest, it would be my Thanksgiving table settings -- mostly ones with the box. As I plan this year's table, I always like to look back on years past for inspiration.

Giving thanks
Thanksgiving. It's a word that conjures up all kinds of images from my childhood -- pilgrims, Indians, corn, the Mayflower -- you name it. I have always loved it.
