Progress in the bedroom...

We are slowly but surely making progress not only in the master bedroom, but throughout the whole house and grounds as we prepare for the photo shoot Monday. At least I tell myself I'm making progress. This is really the only "finished" spot -- anywhere.

The big hold up for everything was starting these closets before Luis got hurt. We have been scrambling to get them finished.

We took them all the way to the ceiling, but they were inspired by these in the little guest house. I had also originally planned to paint the room a lighter blue similar to this.

Then I decided to go with a lighter grey.

But, since there are five restored antique doors in here, and I *really* wanted them to stand out above everything else, so I ended up going with a pretty light white -- BHG "Sunlit White," which is the same color I used to mix the light grey in the master bathroom. It's a warm white, but not too warm.

This was a serious departure for me, but I am slightly majorly obsessed with the antique doors standing out. Since the trim is white, I just didn't want another color on the walls.

I love am also obsessed with how the dark antique furniture stands out now. Since my Victorian marble-topped dresser was missing its mirror, my mom let me borrow this gorgeous hand-carved antique and I could not be more in love with how it looks with the dresser. Sigh:-)

I can't wait to just enjoy being in here. This table is going to be my new favorite spot because the window there overlooks our mountain creek. But first I have yard work to do...LOTS of yard work and cleaning and sprucing and finishing the inside.

That's just a little peek at what's going on at our house this week:-)

Anita, the bedroom is looking wonderful! Your antique pieces are all so beautiful; and they really do stand out against the light walls. It's so much fun to see it all coming together!

  4. I just knew younger going to use a colour inspired by the old house. But I see why you used the white. The doors are such staring all the wood work just pop off the pale walls. Beautiful Anita. I have a feeling the mirror has found it's forever home :)

The closets look fantastic, Anita. I love the beadboard, and the paint color you chose is perfect. I'd want those gorgeous doors to "stand out", too. I've always liked the look of stained or natural doors with painted white frames, and so happy to see this in your home. I just recommended your blog to a friend as one to check out. Just love your style, both in creating a lovely home and in blogging. Hugs ~ Nancy P.S. Praying you'll have a great photo shoot!
