Getting the garden ready

My mother--singer/songwriter, clothing designer and master chef, is really the farmer in the family.  Having come from a farming family, she has always loved growing things and learned from her parents, and her brother, who has carried on the family tradition including raising grass-fed cattle, pigs and chickens. So it's no surprise she is the one who plans out the garden and what will be grown then canned or frozen for the winter.

It's the little things...

I have always thought the little details are what make things special. When trying to achieve true vintage style, the details are really important.

Update on Luis...

Thanks to all of you who have left comments about my husband's injury. We are both thankful for your thoughts and prayers.

We were honestly expecting the healing process to move a little faster than it has. He is still in a lot of pain and having issues with feeling in his fingers and the healing of the wound. Considering he is a guitarist, it is devastating for him. He had two weeks off from playing our Wednesday night youth worship service, and I really thought he would be better and able to play by next Wednesday. It just doesn't look like there is any way he will be playing soon. He does have an appointment with his doctor tomorrow, so we are praying for good news.

Please continue to pray for his healing and recovery. We know God can work miracles, and Luis has more faith than *any* person I know.

As a reminder of his gift, here is a composition he wrote and recorded for his Dad's birthday last year. He is such a talented musician in so many ways and is so ready to be back doing what he does best.

All our love and many thanks:-)

Mason jar jewelry

The calendar says "spring" even if it was 20 degrees last night here in the North Carolina mountains.

Solving the backsplash issue...for now.

I mentioned a couple weeks ago I was trying to finish up some projects that needed finishing, and the kitchen backsplash was one of them. I had found this mixed mosaic tile last year at Lowes that I LOVED, but of course there were only two 12 x 12 pieces, and no more anywhere. You can read about my dilemma HERE

Major setback and trying to move forward

I keep saying the smallest projects always turn out to have the biggest issues. Let me just repeat that.

Progress on the bathroom...

Like I said last week, the smallest projects always turn into something bigger and this has been no exception. It all started with taking out the corner bathtub in the master bath and replacing it with a closet. I was determined to build it around these antique doors from my grandparent's house.
