Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out here! I wanted to share this song that Luis and I did for my mom for Mother's Day. She wrote it years ago, and we wanted to surprise her with it. The photos are mostly of her mom.

I hope you all have a wonderful day:-)

Home Tour

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to have been invited by Debbie to do a home tour! On to the tour...welcome to our little cottage in the mountains of western North Carolina.

Our house is on property that has been in my family for five generations. My husband, who is from Puerto Rico, and I, settled down here to raise our children.

We are right next to a beautiful mountain creek.

So I don't really have fall decor out, I just don't have a more current photo of the front door, which I just painted red last fall.

From the inside...I love antiques and have been blessed to have many passed down in my family. I like to incorporate them with newer things. I recently painted the doors and window trim the same grey that was in my great grandfather's house here. We are in the process of  replacing all the baseboards with wormy chestnut baseboards from his house also.

This is the great room...

Looking the other direction...

And now the dining area. I made the table several years ago from wormy chestnut boards from a 100-year-old guest house here.

Turn around and you are in the kitchen.

                               Next is the hall bath...

My husband and I recently installed these tongue and groove boards from my great grandfather's house. This is the grey that the other trim is painted.

We will skip the kid's rooms if you don't mind. They never seem to get finished.
Next up is the master bedroom...

I only wish it looked like this right now because it is serving a dual purpose -- currently being used as a recording studio, and I'm not kidding.

Here is the master bath. If you haven't guessed by now, I love color:-) However, the walls are about to become aqua:-)

And this is an updated photo of the pot rack in the bathroom that I use for towels, etc.

So that's really about it. Did I mention it was small?? It is nice and cozy, and we really enjoy so much family time here.

I have already painted the red accents here grey, which I'll show soon.

We can head back out to the porch and visit some more.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and many, many thanks to Debbie at Debbiedoo's for featuring me!

PS...there have been some changes in the living spaces starting with the dining room and kitchen getting the blue wall color, plus all the red accents have been replaced with (gasp) pink. I've been sharing some of those changes in small doses, so stay tuned.
