New Turkish rugs and a Christmas sneak peek...
Quite honestly, I am just a little obsessed with Turkish rugs and kilim pillow covers. But then, you all know that. So when I got the email from Unique Rug Store and Kilim Pillow Store about sponsorship, I jumped all over the opportunity.

DIY Moroccan wedding blanket and cozy winter bedroom
I know I usually steer clear of trends, but Moroccan wedding blankets are all the rage, and I really do love the look, but not the price.

Sparkly chandeliers and a great source for affordable lighting
I have loved sparkly chandeliers since I was a child. My aunt Melissa had the most glorious one in her marble-tiled foyer, and I loved to walk down her stairs into the foyer pretending I was a princess. If I lived in her house, I'd probably still do the same thing every morning:-)

Fall porch decor and more
I love Fall. I just cannot wait for it every year. This year, it seemed to take forever -- as if the leaves were *never* going to change. Then, overnight, the color seemed to come from nowhere -- more brilliant than I have ever seen here.

The *best* candles for the season
I am a lover of candles, and I am also extremely picky about the quality. I have loved Folky Art Candles from the very first time I lit one up and have never been disappointed. They are hands down my favorite.

Bohemian chic Autumn
There are so many aspects of Bohemian chic style that appeal to me--from well-traveled accessories, Turkish kilims, and Native American art, to plants, vintage finds, mid-century furniture and my favorite -- color. It's kind of like a smorgasbord of all my favorite design elements -- and then some.

The bright side of fall
If I could choose only one word to describe fall, it would be "vibrant." For me, autumn is seriously an overload for the senses, and I love embracing that feeling inside my home as well.

Welcoming Autumn alfresco
Oh the joy of autumn in the North Carolina mountains! I always look forward to the transition from hazy summer days to clear, Carolina blue skies, vibrant color and crisp, cool nights.
It's the perfect time to get back out on the porch, as the noon day sun that has beat down on our table all summer, finally shifts and is filtered by the changing leaves.

Fall outside the box
I am definitely taking an outside the box approach to Autumn this year. And I mean that literally if you know my "box" story. In any case, I wanted to change things up and go opposite of all the trends and do what speaks to my heart. What's new? I knew I wanted color and lots of it, but not typical fall colors. I started by making this rustic centerpiece for my dining table.

Adding Fall color to a cabinet full of neutrals
Yesterday I showed y'all my corner cabinet all styled with shades of white, silver and vanilla-strawberry hydrangeas. I also mentioned that I had decided it needed more color, so here it is:-)

Styling a cabinet for Fall
Last week after I took the photos of Bonnie's beautiful sunflowers in my music space, I decided to restyle the corner cabinet behind the piano for Fall.

Sunflowers
My friend Bonnie brought me another beautiful bouquet of flowers Wednesday night. This time, they were gorgeous, and super large sunflowers.

Fall Dining alfresco with some special gifts
Well, it's not really fall yet, but autumn is certainly in the air here in the mountains, and it was the perfect day to set a table on the porch.

Consumer Reports Kitchen feature
I was so excited to finally find a copy of the October issue of Consumer Reports Kitchen Planning and Buying Guide! Why, you ask?
They contacted me earlier this summer wanting to buy a photo of the hanging rack I made to hold my cutting boards, so I, of course, said yes and patiently waited for the issue to come out. We could not find it here, so Luis picked up a copy at Barnes and Noble in Asheville where they were just putting them out on the shelves.
This is a wonderful magazine packed full of gorgeous kitchen ideas, so I am humbled to have a little photo in such a beautiful magazine. If you are planning a new kitchen, updating your current kitchen or just looking for solutions for storage, etc., it's a great one to pick up. I'm going to enjoy looking through my copy and doing a little kitchen dreaming:-)
