I really wanted to do a *real* post -- you know, some kind of decor thing, and I have plenty of little projects going on, but we got our first "real" snow of the season, and I ended up outside with the kids and my dad:-)

Frozen
We enjoy our creek all year round, but it definitely takes on a life of its own in the winter. I braved the single digit temps last evening once the sun went down and went out to capture some "silky" water shots.

Looking at the definition of "gray" one would think it's the most boring color ever, but the color gray could not be hotter in decor these days.

What my house really looks like...
When I share my house, I always try and make things look as good as possible. I will spend a lot of time just setting up a shot and making sure everything is perfect because I don't think anyone reads this blog to see laundry baskets sitting around or my dirty dishes on the counters.

Valentine French Toast and a blog hop
I really don't do any decorating for Valentine's Day, so I had a hard time coming up with something to do to celebrate the holiday. Then I started to think back to my childhood and to those construction paper pouches we made and decorated at school, which were always filled with valentines from classmates. I think that sweet, child-like spirit is what really epitomizes Valentine's Day for me, so I decided I would do something for my three children. Instead of a paper pouch filled with cards, I made heart-shaped french toast, and I'm sure they will appreciate that a lot more! And since this was a trial run, hubby got to eat this batch:-)
