~Country Christmas Home Tour~

I finally realized there would be no snow for Christmas this year and went ahead and took "snowless" outside photos for the first time in the five years we have lived here.

A very vintage Christmas...

Those of you who know me know I take the term "vintage" pretty seriously, and at no time is that more evident than Christmas:-)

Retro Christmas bedroom

I never plan to do anything to the bedroom for Christmas, but it never fails, I get inspired by something.

Farmhouse Christmas Kitchen

I didn't set out to have "Farmhouse style" in the kitchen. If you know me, you know I tend to run the opposite direction from trends, but as I have slowly added vintage and antique elements from my grandparent's house and country store, it sort of came out that way, or at least that's how it gets pinned:-)

My best thrift shop find ever...

For more than a year we have not had a couch. After selling the leather one I had, I brought over an antique love seat and chaise lounge from my mother's with really no plan for anything else. Until I saw this.

Thanksgiving on a budget

People sometimes tell me they don't have nice china and linens, to which I say, "bah humbug!" You don't need any of that to set a pretty table, and you can use what you already have or items from thrift shops and garage sales.

Friendly Village Thanksgiving

I truly love Thanksgiving. While I was in the Air Force, I spent every Thanksgiving away from home, and spent several far away entertaining troops in Turkey, Korea, Germany and Bosnia. Maybe that's why I love it so much now that we are settled here near my parents.

Autumn styling in the kitchen

One of the *extras* that resulted from putting in the wormy chestnut countertops was trading a cabinet for open shelving, which I made from old wood I found here. I really am not missing the cupboard space, plus I'm really enjoying having extra display space for my seasonal favorites.

Really, me?

Back in the summer I was contacted by the editor of Country Woman magazine about featuring my Christmas kitchen. After the shock wore off and I got up off the floor, I went to work putting everything together.

Autumn Dining

Some of you all asked me where the dining table went when the grand piano moved into the dining space, which you can see HERE if you missed it. Well, here it is in its new spot and where we are enjoying it this fall:-)

Carolina Autumn, a sponsor, and a barn

The colors have been several weeks late here in the North Carolina mountains, but we are getting some in spots...finally.

The music room

Ok, I'm stretching it a little, but it really is my new music "room."

J.R. Watkins and a giveaway!

If you have been by here at all, you will know how much I love the old Watkins cookbook my great aunt gave me. You might even remember that I make some mouth-watering whole wheat pancakes with a recipe from that cookbook. When I found the J.R. Watkins Company is not only still around,
but better than ever, I was beyond excited.
