Festival of Tables...

I hope you are all having a great week! I have tons of tablescapes to share with you today from the festival at my mother's church Saturday night. Let me add that not only do we set the table, we eat dinner  there also, so the "to-do" list is twice as long--not to mention the cleaning up!

My mother wanted to use her prized Morgantown ruby "Golf Ball" glasses, so I decided to use my Mikasa "Floral Elegance" bone china and the Wallace "Louvre" sterling flatware. She also wanted a Christmas feel, so off to the woods I went to gather greenery--in freezing cold and pouring snow, I might add.  Everything had to be packed, then assembled on-site.

I used the silver Roma Sl Madrid goblets from my punch bowl set to place the name tags. I took a small square of oasis and filled it with greenery. I used the photo of the guest house in snow I posted previously for the place cards. I secured them into the oasis with a toothpick tied with a red ribbon. I just had to use the doilies:-)

The damask napkins are vintage and belonged to my great grandmother. They are quite large.

We found last year that there was so much noise, it was impossible to talk across the table, so we went with a larger centerpiece. Then we found the vase was tall enough to talk around anyway. Per her request, I filled it with cranberries and loosely filled it with different varieties of greenery.  When my father saw the centerpiece, he jokingly said, "Isn't that overkill??" Then I looked around and thought he might just be right!

We added the Cristal D'Arques "Longchamp" iced tea glass for the tea drinkers. I love that they have a similar ball on the stem to the Morgantown.

The "Louvre" sterling master butter spreader is one of my favorite pieces. I used the vintage Landers, Frary and Clark sterling and mother of pearl butter spreaders.

Now for some of the other tables. I used two different cameras, and the combination of bad lighting and hurried photography, gave me some mixed results! Enjoy...

This table below, ended up having some vintage Homer Laughlin china, but I did not get back to take a photo:-(

I managed to get a quick photo with my mom after setting everything up...

We really enjoyed creating the table together, although it is a lot of work. My mother's brother and his wife joined us for dinner, and we had a lovely, family evening.

I'll be joining Susan at "Between Naps on the Porch" for "Tablescape Thursday" so please pop over there for a visit. She has been posting some very helpful tips for planning holiday entertaining, so don't forget to look for those.

As we enter this season of thanksgiving, please remember to pass along the tremendous blessings you have. For example, at our church, we used to have a Tuesday night Thanksgiving meal for church members. We have taken that and turned it into a free meal we feed to the community in need. Any leftover food is then donated to a local soup kitchen.  We combine that with a coat and blanket drive as winters here get pretty cold.

There are so many opportunities to reach out in your own community. Please take those opportunities to be a blessing to someone in need:-)

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I WILL be by to visit you!! I'm hoping to get caught up on all your beautiful comments by this weekend!!

"April Cornell" table mums are back...

If you remember my post where I used the April Cornell Green napkins and daisy napkin rings HERE, you saw some pretty yellow mums in a basket.

I cut them off after they stopped blooming and planted them by the children's playhouse. They grew like crazy and bloomed just a few weeks ago. I finally brought them in to use on my table. They have been beautiful for weeks!

I decided to get out the Waverly "Sweet Pastimes" toile runner I made and it worked perfectly for the season. I have accessorized with vintage Hull and McCoy "Brown Drip" pottery. I put the vintage "Bakelite" flatware in a brown rooster crock, and napkins in a wrought iron holder.

I thought I would share this with Marty for her "Tabletop Tuesday" party, so please go by there and visit her!

I am still behind in returning comments from last week due to my schedule at church and the tablescaping dinner Saturday night with my mom. But, I WILL get by to see all of you and visit your lovely blogs! I'll be posting the tablescapes from Saturday this week, so please come back by:-)

Yes, it's here.

That's right! Snow.

Well, that is actually a photo from last winter. It really looks like this...see the little white dots?? It just started, but I don't expect it to amount to anything. We are above 3,500 feet so we expected a little. Was it not summer yesterday?? It seems like we have traveled back in time to last winter. Hopefully, this one will not be as bad!

While looking for one of last year's photos, I found this one of the little "guest house" that I never posted.  I think it would make a great Christmas card. It's around the corner!!

Autumn Remembered...

I though I would post photos of some of my favorite tables from last fall for today's "Tablescape Thursday." My mom and I will be doing a table this weekend for a festival, so I'm busy putting that together as well as in the midst of the busiest season of all at church!

This first table includes Hull and McCoy "Brown Drip" dinnerware, Imperial Glass "Old Williamsburg" amber, Hazel Atlas "Dots" and a Walmart gold goblet. The napkins are from Marshalls and the napkin rings are the bamboo ones I use all year long from BBB. Sterling flatware is "Louvre" by Wallace.

The next table borrows the same paisley runner but on the reverse solid gold side. Inspired by the brass candelobra from Lebanon and gold leaves from the yard, I have used tones of gold and white. The rattan chargers and napkins are from Walmart. Indiana Glass "Whitehall" glassware, Oneida "Golden Julliard" flatware, and napkin rings from Pier One. Mikasa "Italian Countryside" dinnerware...

This is probably my favorite table from last year! Inspired by the beautiful red Japanese maple leaves, I used leaf salad plates in different colors from Walmart along with Mikasa "Italian Countryside" dinnerware. Rattan chargers and napkins are from Walmart and are combined again with Wallace "Louvre" sterling flatware. Amber and ruby glassware as well as beaded candle holders are from Pier One.

And finally, just to show that blue and white goes with every season, another favorite table combines Churchill "Blue Willow" with pieces I collected in Japan including the rice bowls, saki cups, tea set and chopsticks. Blue goblets are from...Walmart! I really do love this combination of the reds and golds with blue. I used the same napkins and chargers from Walmart as the table above, but with a totally different result.

So there you have some of my favorite tables from last fall using a lot of the same elements in each with very different looks. You have so many options if you just take what you have, borrow a few things from mom, and cut some weeds from the yard. Voila...a beautiful table:-)

Don't keep it for yourself, though! Share your blessings because "when someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required." From Luke 12:48.

Let me encourage you during this season to look outside your own family. We take care of our families all year long, so what a great opportunity for our families to get together and take those blessings and spread them around to others:-)

Thank you SO much for stopping by:-) Please join Susan at "Tablescape Thursday" and be sure to visit her participants and the many, many beautiful tables. Have a blessed week!!
